Abstract


Investigations of wear phenomena on the piston-rings in regard to the influences of dynamic factors generate the possibility for digital diagnostic useful to further optimize the overall engine. The paper’s target is to develop the analyze of Ford Focus piston rings with specialized application. Wear phenomena and its dynamics lead the researcher to create methods for applied digital investigation through a nondestructive approach. Results of this study are recorded and then studied to issue the most relevant observations. Piston ring dynamics generate complex mechanical effort in which wear occur and develops in ways that must be outlined. The wear phenomena on the piston rings lead to specific scenario in engine’s operation. Piston ring’s wear generates the cost increase of the repairing procedure due to longer service intervals, as well as to the efficiency diminish.
